GIL RUDAWSKY

Gil Rudawsky advises his clients not to pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel. While the truism doesn’t have the same literal meaning as it once did, the idea remains the same, maybe even more so. He knows first-hand what media outlets want, whether online, broadcast or print, and how to authentically push to get his client’s side of the story fairly included in news coverage. His solid counsel is honed from decades as a reporter, editor and senior communications consultant specializing in crisis and reputation management.

Gil began his career as a reporter in Aspen, Colo., and journalism took him across the country and then back to his native Colorado, where he worked as a business and metro editor for the now closed Rocky Mountain News. Along the way, he racked up numerous journalism awards and bylines in top media outlets. His journalistic skills – source development, research, credibility, storytelling, and curiosity – remain the foundation of his work with clients.

As a crisis communication consultant, Gil has established himself as the go-to resource for clients needing counsel with sticky issues. He has experience working on a range of issues across sectors, including federal investigations, corporate malfeasance, workplace violence, DEI, customer and community issues and online advocacy campaigns. He provides expert-level strategic counsel, develops and helps execute communication response plans, and provides on-the-ground support. Not surprisingly, he is comfortable playing the aggressive reporter in media training sessions.

Gil lives in Boulder and is a University of Southern California graduate. He took graduate journalism classes at the University of Colorado before an editor convinced him to quit school to take a full-time job as a reporter. Gil is a cyclist and tries to get at least 20 days on the ski slopes each season. He volunteers on a variety of boards, including the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition.
